- I was under the impression that GVP only produced 3 types of SIMMs for their
- accelerators and RAM expansion boards. The early ones were 1 MB 32-bit
- (64 pins??) Then there were the 4 MB 32-bit versions that were much more
- popular (popular as far as GVP memory goes). Lastly, there were the fabled
- 16 MB, 32-bit, 64-pin versions, which I have seen for sale, but never
- acually used ($800+!). Also, I think there was another company (HCo?) that
- manufactured GVP-compatible SIMMS. As for as prices, I think the going rate
- for a used 4MB GVP SIMM is between $120 and $150 USD. 1MB SIMMs are, of
- course, much cheaper and I would hazard a guess of about $60 USD.
-
- Concerning your problem with the GVP Series II HD+8, I think this beast only
- used 1MB SIMMs (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The GVP 040 Combo Board
- uses only 4MB OR 16MB SIMMs.
-
- Are there any silk-screenings on the bottom of the SIMM board to indicate
- it's size? How many ICs are on the SIMM? My 4MB versions have 9 surface-
- mounted HM514400BS6's mounted on them, though this number may vary from
- SIMM to SIMM, depending on what RAM GVP had available at the time.
